Goodbye 2012!

I can’t believe just how fast 2012 has flown. It has been an incredible year for us from surviving our first year as parents to a schoolgirl to doing our rebranding.
But what made this journey even more amazing are the wonderful people we got to meet and become friends with along the way.
We are looking forward to what 2013 will bring and here’s to capturing and sharing more precious memories with you all!

Those gumboots are starting to become an investment. I might need to buy them in red too.

Our little wooden box & introducing our new Flash Drive!

You may have noticed in our Pricing page that we now offer a flash drive in our wedding collections.
Yes, our wedding photography collections now include the option of getting your high-res photos in a custom flash drive as well as in a DVD.
I have been wanting to blog about our custom flash drive and the content of our little wooden box. It looks so pretty, so naturally I want to show it off! (but I might also be biased!) ;)
I love putting these together. Packaging our products is probably one of my favourite things to do.

The smell of Spring

Last weekend was spent in this beautiful cottage in Featherston, Little Branches, where flowers are already starting to bloom.
I’m sure the garden would even look more lovely in Spring time.
We picked flowers, played on the swing, ran in the garden and simply enjoyed doing absolutely nothing.
Wedding season is starting a little early for me this year, so it was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of the city even just for a short time.
Stopping to smell the flowers is definitely something I need to do more often.

An oldie but a goodie

I was stuck in bed the whole of last week because of the flu and I can tell you that it was no fun at all.
I just finished a couple of album layouts and I can’t wait for the weekend to get here!
Can you believe it’s the last winter month already? Spring and the wedding season are just around the corner and I’m getting really excited!

This portrait is one of my favourites. Mark and Caroline’s wedding was one of the first weddings I covered in 2010.
There’s something about the lace and the softness of the colours that make it such a classic.. and doesn’t she just look breathtaking?

The Queensberry Press

Beautiful images deserve to be showcased in the most beautiful albums.
I appreciate beautiful stationery; textured paper, letters, cards… So naturally I wanted to present my work in something beautiful too and I couldn’t have chosen a better album supplier than the folks over at Queensberry.
A few weeks ago I put together a series of layouts to showcase my work and to introduce these hand-crafted albums to my brides and grooms. Yesterday they arrived and I’m thrilled! These are built to last with the best materials and the craftsmanship is second to none. And of course, the images just come alive, touching them brings me back to the moment they were captured.
I can’t wait to make more of these!

This is the 10×10″ Gunmetal Buckram Flushmount Press Album printed on beautiful textured Nettuno paper.

This one is an 8×8″ Press Book with a designable cover and an ocean Mayu case printed on heavy satin paper.

Fujifilm X10

Jay gave me the Fujifilm X10 for Christmas because I always complain that my DSLR is too heavy to carry around when I go out, so I always end up just using my iPhone to take photos.
These photos were taken with the X10 when we went location scouting on Saturday and ended up on the South Coast. It was a gorgeous day topped with an amazing sunset.
I’ve been wanting to post a few photos from the X10 and I’m glad I’m finally getting around to doing it.

Today I woke up to the sound of raindrops on our roof.
You know that soothing sound that makes you just want to stay in bed all day..
but the sound of my daughter’s voice telling me her stomach is growling is also impossible to ignore, so I knew I had to get up. haha.
We made cinnamon french toasts and scrambled eggs and finished doing our weekend chores.
The sun has come out now and I think it’s time to take this little girl to the park.
Don’t you just love days that make you feel you’ve done nothing and everything?

Sunday, please don’t go just yet. I am having such a good time with you.

This photo was from a family portrait session I did last week. I had almost forgotten how much I love documenting families, so this was definitely a lovely reminder.

Paris in Autumn

I have been wanting to edit our photos from our Paris trip last year.. but it was the wedding season and life happened when we got back to New Zealand.
We went to Paris in Autumn and it was magical – the colours, the city, the light – everything was simply beautiful.

So here’s a little piece of Paris through my eyes.
As Audrey Hepburn once said, Paris is always a good idea. I couldn’t agree more.
