Wellington Wedding Photographer | Boomrock Wedding | Mike & Lauren

It’s a little hard to believe that Mike and Lauren tied the knot 8 months ago now!
I remember how windy and overcast it was that day, and when we thought we weren’t going to get the golden sunset that we were hoping for, the clouds made way to the setting sun and we had the most orange skies.
It was glorious, and just the perfect way to end an already amazing day for two amazing people.

Wellington Wedding Photographer | Brackenridge Wedding | Patrick & Isabelle

We did a crazy thing in January, where we photographed 4 weddings in a row, and 10 in total for the month of Jan.
I thought I would be exhausted and won’t have the energy and motivation to photograph the rest of our wedding season, but being around happy people really is contagious.

Patrick and Isabelle’s wedding was one of those weddings we photographed in January.
It was a little touch and go with the weather but when you’re surrounded by people who love you the most, and who are there to celebrate one of the happiest days of your life with you, who really cares if it rains a little right?

Wanaka Wedding Photographer | The Lookout Lodge Wanaka, Wedding | John & Elizabeth

I talk about how important it is to connect with my clients a lot.
Since I’m probably the one couples spend the most of their time with on their wedding day, having that connection helps me tell their stories even better.
I met John at one of my couples’ weddings in 2016, he was the emcee for that day.
So I was thrilled when I got an email from him a few months later asking if I’d be interested in documenting their wedding in Wanaka!
I don’t think any photographer in their right mind would say no to that opportunity really, especially when you’re going to be working with the most lovely people.

Every single one of their guests traveled to celebrate with them.
And when I asked them why they chose to get married in Wanaka, they simply said that it’s their most favourite place in the world.

Destination Wedding Photographer | Film Photography

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
— Ansel Adams

Last year, I started dabbling with film photography. There’s  so much excitement in just documenting without knowing what the outcome will be.
I’ve really been enjoying rethinking and refocusing before pressing the shutter, and I know there is still a lot to learn but I thought I’d show you some of the images that we took with our film camera during our trip.
