Last year, I started dabbling with film photography. There’s so much excitement in just documenting without knowing what the outcome will be.
I’ve really been enjoying rethinking and refocusing before pressing the shutter, and I know there is still a lot to learn but I thought I’d show you some of the images that we took with our film camera during our trip.

I got the sweetest email from Angela in October last year when she was looking for a photographer for their wedding.
It was the kind of email that makes the tiredness from long hours of editing in the office disappear.
And when I met her and Rob a few days later, it felt like we had always been friends.

They got married in the backyard of Rob’s parents’ property in March and it was a true celebration of their love for each other.
The day went off without a hitch and it was filled with nothing but smiles and laughter.

Rob and Angela, you are a perfect match for each other.
Thank you so much for allowing me and Jay to capture your day and tell your story through our lenses.
I wish you both a wonderful life together filled with amazing memories.

Wellington Wedding: Matt & Natasha

Matt and Natasha had a plan for their ceremony.
It was meant to be outside on a private property owned by their friends surrounded by hills and greeneries.
But because of Wellington’s infamous weather, they had to change their ceremony plans the day before their wedding.
They moved it to their reception venue, one of their favourite bars in Wellington, Rogue and Vagabond.
And although the sun did not make an appearance that day, their smiles made up for the lack of sunshine.
They were just so happy to be marrying each other and to have everyone they love witness it.
Nothing else mattered.

Matt and Tasha, thank you for letting Jay and I document your wedding. It’s definitely a day we won’t soon forget.
We wish you both a lifetime of more happy memories and laughter.

Maybe

Because tomorrow is Valentine’s day, I thought I’d post this reading I heard from a wedding a few weeks ago.
I am a big sucker for wedding readings and this one definitely stuck with me.

Maybe.
Maybe we are supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
Maybe it’s true that we don’t know what we have got until we lose it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we have been missing until it arrives.
Maybe the happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Maybe the best kind of love is the kind you can sit on a sofa together and never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.
Maybe you shouldn’t go for looks, they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth, even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Maybe you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.
Maybe love is not about finding the perfect person, it’s about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

Boomrock Wedding: Matthew & Courtney

I met Courtney for the first time a few months ago and I think one of the first things I told her was that she looked like Drew Barrymore – only younger and prettier.
During that first meeting we talked about everything – from wedding dresses to houses.
It was almost like it wasn’t the first time we had sat down together because honestly, it felt more like I was chatting with one of my girlfriends.

Matt and Courtney’s wedding day couldn’t have gone any more perfectly. It was such a happy day filled with so much laughter and so much joy from everyone celebrating their love with them.
From the moment I stepped into their home where I met her parents for the first time to the time I left Boomrock, I was smiling from ear to ear.

I had a hard time choosing which photos to put on the blog, so I thought I’d just post as many as I can!

Matt and Court, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your wedding day, it was awesome!
The two of you are simply amazing and capturing these moments for you was an absolute pleasure.
